Sushi, place of origin Japan, a traditional Japanese dish prepared with vinegared rice (sushi-meshi), with salt & sugar, additionally an assortment of ingredients such as vegetables, & seafood, often raw. The different styles of sushi and its appearance can differ widely, but the main key element is "sushi rice", also know as shari or sumeshi.

Traditionally Sushi is created primarily with medium-grain white rice, however brown rice or short-grain rice can also be used to prepare Sushi. It is also prepared with seafood, imitation crab meat, salmon, squid, eel, tuna, & yellowtail. Several kinds of sushi are vegetarian. It is frequently served with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger (gari), pickled daikon (takuan) and/or Daikon radish are common accompaniments and garnishes for the Japanese dish.
